ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya (IBMV) is offering a 27-hour Diploma in Bhagavad-gita course, divided into 18 sessions of 1.5 hours each. Scheduled from February 1 to February 21, 2025, the classes will be held Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM IST. The course will be conducted by Premasindhu Gauranga Das who is the Director of Administration at IBMV.
The program welcomes individuals ages 15 and above, regardless of their prior knowledge. It offers an in-depth exploration of the Bhagavad-gita‘s philosophy, chapter structure, and interconnections while addressing contemporary issues. Participants will receive study notes and complete an online multiple-choice exam, gaining practical tools to navigate modern challenges and deepen their connection with the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
Formed in 2019 and located in the sacred land of Govardhan in Vrindavan, India, the institution is led by Bhakti Prachar Parivrajak Swami, who serves as Chairman and guides the overall vision and mission of the Mahavidyalaya. Sundar Gopal Das, the Vice Chairman, supports the institution’s leadership and administration. Kanai Krishna Das holds the position of Academic Director, overseeing the academic curriculum and ensuring the quality of education. Srikeshav Das, as the Project Director, leads the teaching staff in delivering comprehensive Vedic education.
IBMV aspires to closely align with Srila Prabhupada’s original intent. During his stay at the Radha Damodar temple in Vrindavan, Srila Prabhupada cherished a desire to establish a Bhagavatam College in Vrindavan that would serve as a center for deep study and dissemination of the Srimad-Bhagavatam’s teachings. The name “mahavidyalaya,” meaning “college” in English, encapsulates this purpose perfectly, symbolizing a commitment to fulfilling his divine desire. By providing a platform for systematic and immersive learning of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, IBMV not only honors Srila Prabhupada’s dream but also seeks to uphold and perpetuate his mission to share transcendental knowledge with the world.
IBMV has now expanded its presence to North America in DeLand, Florida, and offers online programs that facilitate the study and practice of Vedic teachings in the Western context. Beyond education, it is actively involved in community service through the Brajavasi Seva Project which supports the residents of Vrindavan by providing daily nutritious prasadam to mendicants, sadhus, villagers, and other needy individuals residing at the foot of Govardhan. It also ensures compassionate care for stray cows.
The ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya (IBMV) ‘s future vision is to grow into a premier institution dedicated to cultivating and nurturing devotees’ spiritual and academic needs. A significant aspect of this vision involves expanding its physical infrastructure to support the creation of a full-fledged college.
The proposed construction plan of IBMV.
This development would include the construction of modern facilities, such as state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries, residential accommodations for students and faculty, and spaces for scriptural study and meditation. Such infrastructure would not only enhance the quality of education and devotional practice but also provide an inspiring environment conducive to spiritual growth and intellectual exploration.
Bhanu Swami, Bhakti Raghava Swami, Bhakti Dhira Damodar Swami, Bhakti Purushottam Swami, Basu Ghosh Das, Gauranga Das, and many other devotees have expressed words of appreciation for the activities of ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya which you can watch here.
