On December 21, 2024, the Devotee Care Department office was inaugurated in Room 108 at the Chakra Building in Mayapur. This 24/7 department is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of devotees, playing a crucial role in furthering the mission of ISKCON. Its establishment marks a significant step in ensuring the holistic care and nurturing of those who dedicate their lives to the service of the Lord.

The inauguration event was graced by the presence of devotees, including Jananivas Das, Subheksana Das, co-director of ISKCON Mayapur, Purananda Das, Central Divisional Head of ISKCON Mayapur, Panchajanya Keshav Das, the department head, and Mahavaraha Das, the personal secretary of Jayapataka Swami.

Lord Krishna’s pastimes beautifully illustrate His boundless love for His devotees and the importance of prioritizing their care. He joyfully steals butter from the homes of His devotees, valuing their love over any worldly perception of Him. As Arjuna’s chariot driver, He demonstrates the depth of His love and devotion to those who love Him. When Vidurani, overwhelmed by devotion, unknowingly offers Him a banana peel instead of the fruit, Krishna accepts it with delight, cherishing her love as the true gift. Similarly, as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He lovingly eats the broken, uncooked rice offered by Shuklambar Brahmachari, not for the rice but for the devotion it symbolizes.

In a letter to Tamala Krishna Goswami on August 23, 1973, Srila Prabhupada beautifully expressed, “It should be our definite policy that nobody is ill-treated that he may go away.” These words embody the essence of his vision for a community rooted in care and compassion, where every devotee feels valued and supported in their spiritual journey.

In this same spirit, the Vaishnava Care Department strives to work and support those devotees who selflessly dedicate their lives to the service of the Lord, ensuring that their well-being is prioritized and their love is cherished.

Glorifying the initiative, Subheksana Das said that the department’s services will go a long way in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for all visitors to Sri Dham Mayapur. During the inauguration event, he expressed, “Deity worship is incomplete without honoring and serving the Vaishnavas. The wonderful services offered to the devotees coming to Sri Dham Mayapur from across India and around the world will truly highlight the significance and importance of this department.”

Mahavaraha Das shared why Lord Narayana always holds His Gada and Chakra, even in His sleep. He explained that the Lord is constantly mindful of how to protect His devotees, ever willing to sacrifice His rest whenever His devotees are in need. Inspired by this, Mahavaraha Das encouraged the Devotee Care Department to embody the same spirit of Lord Narayana—remaining always ready and willing to assist devotees at any time. “The goal is to operate and be prepared to support and help those in need around the clock, 24/7,” he emphasized.

Jananivas Das expressed his joy regarding the inauguration of this department and exclaimed how this will help those in need. He shared, “Now we should think about how we can serve the devotees and make them very happy, as we want the devotees to remain healthy and happy. Prabhupada said, we are just ready to be happy in Krishna Consciousness, so we help many devotees whose health is not very good with the single purpose of serving the mission of Caitanya Vaishnava Mahaprabhu under Srila Prabhupada’s guidance.”
