ISKCON Fiji will celebrate their Festival of Fiji on September 14th-22, 2024, as part of the 50th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s arrival in Fiji and the 20th anniversary of the installation of Sri Sri Radha Golokabihari in Suva, the capital city.
Devotees are preparing for the festival after a gap of four years due to the global pandemic. The last Festival of Fiji was held in 2019, with 300 devotees from different parts of the world. The festival’s primary aim is to facilitate higher consciousness in the community through the sharing of harinam and prasadam, following Srila Prabhupada’s strategy. He always encouraged preaching through these two primary means in Fiji.
In addition to the 50th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s arrival in Fiji, the festival also marks the 20th anniversary of the installation of Sri Sri Radha Golokabihari in the capital city. “We are celebrating the occasion by once again having a full abhishekam of Their Lordships Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Sri Sri Radha Golokabihari Lalita and Vishakha Sakhi, and Sri Sri Sita Rama Lakshmana and Hanuman, together with Nrsimha-Sudarshana Homa,” said organizers in an invitation letter.
The Festival of Fiji was started by Tamal Krishna Goswami in 2008 and will include harinam, book and prasadam distribution, a bus tour around the main island, picnics, evening kirtans, dramas, and more.
Organizers highlighted reasons why worldwide devotees should attend the Festival of Fiji:
Some of the speakers at the Festival of Fiji are Indradyumna Swami, Bir Krishna Goswami, Vedavyaspriya Swami, Bada Haridas Das, Kalasamvara Das, Prabhava Das, and other senior disciples. See the poster below for more details.
