Emily Ward and Samuel Mbae Ragwa Governor of the Tharaka-Nithi County in Kenya

On July 7, 2014, girls from Senior Girl Scout Troop 733 from Alachua, Florida were invited to meet with Samuel Mbae Ragwa, Governor of the Tharaka-Nithi County in Kenya. The girls were invited to share details about their project focused on reducing barriers to education for girls and young women around the world.

During her visit with the governor, Emily Smith, 16, offered him a Bhagavad-gita, which he gratefully accepted. She included her email address in the front cover and received an email from the governor the following day, thanking her for her involvement with the girls in his country and for the book.

The girls were invited to be the governor's guests in Kenya and are planning a trip in June 2015.
