ISKCON Mayapur to Open Its Gates for Visitors

Each year, more than 7 million people from different parts of the world visit Mayapur, the birth place of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and headquarter of ISKCON. Over the years, Mayapur has evolved to be a significant tourist destination of not only West Bengal but entire world. 

After the COVID-19 restrictions lifted, after nearly 90 days of closure, people will again get the opportunity to have darshan  and worship Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Sri Panchtattva, Sri Sri Prahlad Narsimhadev deties, as the much anticipated  gates of ISKCON  Chandradoya temple, Mayapur, world headquarter of the institution, will be opened for devotees, pilgrims and visitors from Sunday, 5th July onwards. 

However, to implement precautionary measures some restrictions have been imposed. 

The  timings of  darshan will be only between 9am to 7pm. All pedestrian visitors will have to enter through the main gate,  and the vehicles from the Gammon gate side, where each vehicle will be sanitized, followed by screening of the visitors and then the visitor will be sanitized before entering the temple campus. It will be ensured that visitors are properly wearing masks. 

A proper system of crowd control has been set up  and to maintain social distancing among the visitors the entry gate is made separate from the exit gate. Visitor movement inside the temple campus and Samadhi of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, Founder Acharya of ISKCON, will be monitored through CCTV cameras.  The temple premises, restaurants, toilets  will be sanitized frequently, every day.  

Meanwhile the Goshala will remain closed.  

To facilitate the visitors free Prasadam will be distributed in the afternoon for a month.

“Since safety of our devotees and visitors is very important for us we took a bit of extra time to open the gates and wanted to ensure we have enough  equipments and proper infrastructure to implement the precautionary measures” informed Sri Madhava Gauranga Das, Vice Chairman of the Mayapur Administrative Council.  The ISKCON Mayapur management is in constant touch with the local administration and will abide by all the rules and regulations.
