On World Environment Day, a group of 30 students and seven teachers from ISKCON Punjabi Bagh’s Hare Krishna Sunday School gathered in a nearby renowned park to celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of caring for our planet. The participants engaged in various activities aimed at promoting environmental consciousness.

The day commenced with a cleanliness drive, where the enthusiastic group worked together to clean up the surroundings and make the park a cleaner and more pleasant place. Following this, they performed a thought-provoking street play, emphasizing the significance of Mother Nature and the need to protect and preserve her.

Moreover, the students and teachers showcased their creativity by demonstrating how to transform an old t-shirt into a reusable bag in just five minutes, offering an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. By promoting such simple yet effective solutions, they aimed to reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable practices in everyday life.

These initiatives for the environment are not limited to a single day of the year. The school regularly organizes various events and programs throughout the year, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation. In the previous year, the school organized the Value Education Olympiad, focusing on environmental values, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 250,000 students from 20 different countries. It was truly inspiring to witness such global engagement in preserving our planet.

Looking ahead, the school has an ambitious plan to carry out a tree plantation drive, aiming to plant 200,000 trees. This endeavor signifies their dedication to creating a greener and healthier environment for future generations.

“As we reflect on World Environment Day, let us join hands and unite on all fronts, pledging to preserve, serve, and nurture our Mother Nature,” said Premanjana Das, “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we do not harm her, but instead work towards her well-being. Together, we can make a significant difference and create a sustainable future for all.”
