On November 27th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about Jagattarini Dasi, who now runs an art gallery in the Swan Valley of Perth, on the 83rd edition of his monthly radio show, Mann Ki Baat.

PM Modi said Jagattarini Dasi spent more than 13 years in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, before returning to Australia.

“She says though she has returned to Australia she could not forget Vrindavan. And that is why she remained in touch with Vrindavan and its spiritual joy. She made a Vrindavan in Australia by making art her medium,” PM Modi said.

Vaishnavi Ministry-Jagattarini Dasi Interview

Jagattarini Dasi first met Srila Prabhupada in 1970 when she was a well-known and prolific actor. In 1983 she moved with her family to Sri Vrindavan Dhama, and spent the next 13 years teaching in the Bhaktivedanta Gurukula. Srila Prabhupada always encouraged her artistic abilities as a way to creatively educate people on Krishna Consciousness.  As an example, during her time in Gita Nagari (USA) she had a series of puppet shows, that were later presented to a worldwide audience on ITV.  She has also been building miniature three-dimensional diorama exhibits, depicting Krishna’s Vrindavan pastimes in a project known as Gopinatha Dhama, which is meant to teach and inspire people on the glories of Sri Vrindavan Dhama.

PM Modi said the amazing effort of Jagattarini “indeed shows us the power of Krishna Bhakti. I wish her all the best in this work,” he added.
