Red Carpet

My front doorsteps are strewn with red autumn leaves. I feel like a celebrity leaving the house and stepping onto a red carpet. Nature is kind and playful. And her beauty is powerful.

We fear nature’s power in hurricanes and other natural disasters. Unwieldy and destructive she plows through our lands and our lives. Her beauty is a softer power but no less influential.

Krishna says he is ‘flower bearing spring’. I think autumn is a close second. He could be ‘leaf turning fall’ with the power that is around at this time of year. It’s simply stunning – the colors, the movement, the sounds, the visuals.

Beauty is one of the six opulences of Krishna. God is beautiful. Imagine that for a moment. And His divine consort, Srimati Radharani, is the personification of beauty. She attracts beautiful Krishna. The idea of such a level of beauty is awe inspiring and enthusing.

Know that all beautiful, glorious, and mighty creations spring from but a spark of My splendor. Bhagavad-Gita 10.41

Seek beauty in nature. Seek it everywhere. It nourishes our spirit self and our relationship with Krishna. It simultaneously grounds us and lifts us. Let the beauty of nature move us to goodness and beyond. We simply have to welcome it.
