In March 2023, ISKCON News reported on Inner Voice Production’s latest initiative, Srila Prabhupada’s Film Restoration Project. The team is well-known for its transformative film “Hare Krishna – The Mantra, The Movement, and the Swami Who Started It All,” which has been showcased around the world and is still available on multiple digital platforms. The project has reached a new financial milestone in this crucial service to preserve the legacy and impact of Srila Prabhupada.
The film restoration project aims to transfer original ISKCON 16mm films to 4K quality and S-8/8mm films to 2K quality, painstakingly removing scratches and imperfections, frame by frame, to create a “pristine” copy of Srila Prabhupada recordings. It’s no small feat, given the project involves 47 hours of footage taken from 1965 to 1977. The project has garnered the praise of senior devotees and disciples of Srila Prabhupada, “Historic footage of Srila Prabhupada dancing, speaking, walking, joking-all preserved in pristine quality, said Rukmini Devi Dasi, “Thank you, dear Yadubara and Visakha! The world today and the world of the future owe you our deepest gratitude!”
Recently, Yadubara Dasa, Visakha Dasi and the Inner Voice Productions Team announced that the necessary funds have been successfully collected for the groundbreaking effort, stating, “Srila Prabhupada’s Film Restoration Project is now well underway, and we are dedicated to ensuring that Srila Prabhupada’s timeless teachings are not only preserved but presented in the highest quality possible,” the post continued, “The impact of this initiative will be profound, as the meticulously restored films will allow future generations to connect with Srila Prabhupada in a visually captivating and impactful manner.”
It’s still possible to get involved with this laudable effort. Please visit their website or follow their service on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
