On 5 July 2011, the Supreme Court (SC) of India heard the property dispute case of Bangalore unit of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on the grounds whether to admit the case or not.

The SC has allowed ISKCON Mumbai a time of six weeks to file the counter SLP (Special Leave Petition is filed by Madhu Pandit Das to admit his case in SC). ISKCON shall appeal to the SC to not allow admitting the case but dismissing it with exemplary cost. The SC has also allotted a time of four weeks to Madhu Pandit Dasa to respond to the same. Meanwhile, the interim status quo passed by the SC on 6 June 2011 remains standing till further court orders.

If the Supreme Court admits the case, then the matter and hearings shall proceed further. If it does not admit the case, then the Bangalore unit presently headed by Madhu Pandit Dasa will have to respect the High Court order.

It may be recalled that, on May 23, 2011, the Karnataka High Court had ruled that the entire property of Bangalore’s International Society for Krishna Consciousness at Hare Krishna Hills belongs to ISKCON registered in Mumbai. Aggrieved by the order, the Bangalore unit of ISKCON, had moved the apex court by way of a Special Leave Petition.
