The library is home to the collection of thousands of works, including the personal diary of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, some original handwritten articles by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and a 200-page songbook handwritten by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura.
Hari Sauri, well-known for his Transcendental Diary book series about his time as Srila Prabhupada’s personal servant, served with the BRC since its inception in June 2009. From the beginning he was instrumental in its work collecting and preserving important historical documents of ISKCON’s Gaudiya Vaishnava lineage, according to Srila Prabhupada’s instructions.
The Bhaktivedanta Research Centre in Kolkata has added some new treasures to its vast library of over 15,000 works that includes many important and rare works by Vaishnava acharyas. Amongst the recent acquisitions are seven hand-written manuscripts donated by Sri Sanjay Goswami of Vrindavan, a 14th generation descendent from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s intimate associate Sri Advaita Acharya.
The museum will have artifacts, books, scriptures, manuscripts, letters, personal belongings of Lord Chaitanya and His associates.
The Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC) situated at 110A Motilal Nehru Road, Kolkata 700029 is seeking a creative and enthusiastic librarian. The successful applicant should ideally hold an MLS or B. Lib. Sci or have on-site experience of information management and be able and willing to lead a variety of services in the development of the BRC library.
