    ISKCON youth around the world are still in shock as they mourn the passing of their dear friend Hari Kirtan Dasa, an alumni of ISKCON’s Mayapur school and disciple of Bhakti Tirtha Swami. Hari Kirtan, known to his friends as Harish, was working at a store in Atlanta, USA on March 22 when at 8:01pm, the store was robbed and he was shot.

  • UK Leader Steps Down After Decision on Excessive Punishment

    Yesterday, on 13th July 2008, Gauri Dasa stepped down from his position as Temple President of Bhaktivedanta Manor after a decision by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness Central Office of Child Protection. The decision found Gauri Dasa responsible for "inappropriate and excessive corporal punishment" whilst a teacher at an ISKCON affiliated school in India during the 1990's.

  • ISKCON School Alumni Takes Own Life at Thirty-Six

    On June 20th 2008 Gokulananda, a second generation ISKCON member—or gurukuli—died by suicide in Marina Del Rey, California. His death was reported to his family and Gurukuli peers by his girlfriend of five years, Michelle Lemay. On June 29th, about ten of Gokulananda’s gurukuli peers gathered with other friends to honor his bright spirit and to pray for peace and happiness on his journey.

  • German Devotee Children Experience Cultural Integration

    Seven devotee children celebrated a special day of their own in Germany with twenty of their school friends and their friends' family members on a Sunday in May at Goloka-dhama, in Abentheuer. The event was organized so that the devotee children could have a Vedic version of their Catholic friends' First Communion ceremony.

  • Vrindavana Students Create Bhagavad-gita Tapestry

    This year, Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School of Vrindavan, India, celebrated Gita Jayanti in a unique and as one guest observed, “Most novel!” way. Three weeks before the day, the students and staff hand wrote each of the 700 verses of the Bhagavad-Gita onto colourful pieces of fabric. Each square was then sown together to make a beautiful quilt measuring 12 X 20 feet!

    Hundreds of devotees walk around Vrindavan every day on a special path called a parikrama marg. The walk itself is called parikrama, “sacred walk” or “sacred journey.” Circumambulating the town of Vrindavan on this path is a way to respect and honor this holy place.
