After a long journey, a full-fledged ISKCON temple is finally set to launch in Las Vegas, receiving its grand opening from April 26th to 28th, 2018, culminating on Nrsimha Chaturdasi.
Spiritual Oasis to Arise in Nevada’s “Sin City”
On June 15th, on the auspicious day of Ekadasi, construction began on a new temple complex in the city that probably needs it most: Las Vegas. It may come as a surprise to some that ISKCON has already had a strong presence in Sin City, Nevada for quite some time already, thanks to Polish devotee couple Surapala Das and Krishna Mayi Dasi, who started a center there from their home back in 2002.
“The casinos are spitting out burnt-out people every day,” says Nimai Hemphill, a second-generation devotee and construction professional who has moved to Vegas to head up work on the new temple. “People are desperate for a spiritual alternative.”
Krishna's New Playground
After getting too many hints they couldn't ignore, a devotee couple decides, with reasonable trepidation, to open a Krishna temple in Sin City.

For some, when it comes to gambling, enough is never enough, and the risk of greed and insatiable desires is uncomfortably high. When money is at stake, perfectly respectable citizens seem to have a spell cast over them.
