The Hare Krishna Movement’s Unknown Soldier
Although I was born the eldest son to a career US Army officer who served during two wars, and attended a well known military academy with over two centuries of tradition, I never really understood all the pomp and circumstance evoked by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That is…until now.
Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. in Every Town and Village
In 2001, two long-time friends and Godsisters, Sangita Devi Dasi and Jusaniya Devi Dasi, co-founded Vaisnavas C.A.R.E., Inc. (Counseling, Assistance, Resource, and Education for the Terminally-ill and Their Families). Their vision was that in every town or village, when devotees are in the process of dying, there will be trained volunteers to assist with their end-of-life needs.
Memorium: Krishna Kripa Dasi
My wife, Srimati Krishna Kripa Dasi, disappeared on November 30, 2008. A staunch disciple of Srila Prabhupada, she was always enthusiastic and attentive in her service. She loved to read and distribute Srila Prabhupada's books, and was always thinking and planning about the welfare of others.
Sadaputa's Departure: A Quantum Loss
ISKCON Scientist Sadaputa Dasa Passes Away
My connection with Sadaputa goes back more than thirty years. I remember first meeting him one day at our Brooklyn Hare Krishna center, a large old brownstone in Brooklyn Heights. It was the middle of the day, and hardly anyone else was around, so I found myself spending at least an hour or so talking with this young scientist who had come there with questions about our philosophy. We talked about consciousness, about Bhagavad-gita, about the implications of Schrödinger’s equation.
ISKCON scientist Sadaputa Dasa, also known as Richard L. Thompson, passed away on September 18th, 2008. His body was found at the bottom of his swimming pool at his home in Alachua, Florida, USA, on Thursday afternoon.
A longtime friend of the family, Mother Nancy, said that he had suffered a heart attack, a condition there has been some history of in his family.
