Recently Jaya Vijaya Das passed away from cancer of the bile duct. On behalf of the ISKCON Australia Management Council I have been asked to offer heartfelt condolences to his young family – his wife Varsana Radhe devi dasi, his sons – 11 year old Arjuna and 2 year old Kartikeya, his extended family as well as all his numerous friends:
Jaya Vijaya Prabhu had been serving as Temple President of the Brisbane ISKCON Temple for several years and was an appreciated member of our National Management Council.
Mercifully he passed away before going through the final stages of cancer where one becomes overwhelmed with pain, bedridden and dependent. In fact Jaya’s final days were spritely, laughing with friends and hugging his boys.
Always extending a helping hand to all, Jaya Vijaya Prabhu was an extremely dedicated compassionate devotee who genuinely cared for others.
He was also a studious devotee dedicated to studying the Sastra at least one or two hours a day.
As his close friend Maha Mantra Prabhu states about him:
“Because of a rough upbringing, he was particularly concerned for those that had it tough and would extend himself to counsel and advise troubled youth.
Jaya was always himself. Tattoos, wild spirited and fun – internally he was very serious about his spiritual life, family and leading the temple community.
He came at the perfect time to lead the Brisbane temple. At a time where the Yatra wanted leadership, Jaya did exactly that. He utilized his full time as a volunteer to selflessly bring devotees together and move projects forward. Relationships were healed, groups brought together as one family under Srila Prabhupada’s shelter.
The long anticipated move to next door to the new temple land and completion of council approvals for the Vedic temple in Brisbane finally happened. He brought the project forward to the stage where it’s now ready to be built”.
All members of the ISKCON Australia Management Council, as well as the broader community of ISKCON devotees, are deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful Krishna conscious individual and we will miss his unique association.
To Jaya Vijaya Prabhu’s wife and children as well as other family members, we pray that the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Again: our most sincere condolences and may Lord Krishna grant him eternal residence at His lotus feet.
