ISKCON News is sad to report the deaths of two devotees of Lord Krishna, Sanatana Goswami Dasa and his wife Kalavati Devi Dasi, disciples of HH Partha Sarathi Das Goswami. They died in the village of Nechaevo near Oleshek, in Ukraine.
There are conflicting reports as to the cause of death. But, it’s clear there was violence involved. According to residents of the area, the deaths occurred the first week of November. It was reported to ISKCON News that locals discovered the bodies of Sanatana and Kalavati in the yard of their home. They were later buried by Sanatana Goswami’s brother near Kalanchak (close to Crimea).
Local devotees said Sanatana Goswami and Kalavati lived a simple life, caring for a cow and gardening on their village land. They regularly held namahatta meetings in their home, loved participating in harinam, and frequently participated in nagara kirtan.
Devotees from the local area gathered for a memorial service and kirtan to honor their beloved friends. We pray to Lord Krishna and Srila Prabhupada to bless the departed souls of Sanatana Goswami Dasa and Kalavati Devi Dasi.
