The monsoon in West Bengal is midway and has brought tremendous rainfall already. The ISKCON Mayapur campus and the surrounding villages are fully flooded with three feet water.

Devotees now are getting around in boats and still continue to attend temple functions and visit the Deities.

The Mayapur management is trying its best to support the devotees and provide them with the basic amenities: drinking water, food and medical assistance.

ISKCON Mayapur is not only trying to take care of the resident devotees, but is making large efforts to distribute food for the inhabitants of the neighboring villages. Over the past few days hot meal and dry food have been provided to about 50,000 villagers in the Mayapur area.

Although the flood is causing some difficulty in the day-to-day life of the devotees, but it is also bringing the ISKCON Mayapur community together. Devotees are taking advantage of the situation by immersing themselves in Krishna Katha and Kirtan.

Gaura Narshima Das the Deputy Director of ISKCON Mayapur said, “flood is a rather unique situation in Mayapur and is not viewed as a catastrophe. It’s actually mother Ganga slowly entering the campus to take darshan of Sri Radha Madhava, Panchattatva and Narshima Dev.”

Devotees of Krishna make the best use of any situation and sure remain grateful.  Jayapataka Swami – although isn’t personally present at Mayapur – has been assuring the devotees’ safety and has been giving his advice on how to go about managing things at Mayapur Dham.
