By ISKCON News Staff   |  Мар 02, 2022

Saturday, March 5 to Sunday, March 6 2022

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), a worldwide religious community and confederation of over 500 temples and cultural centers, will conduct Chant for Peace events during the weekend of Saturday, March 5th, 2022 around the globe to pray for all people affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and surrounding areas. ISKCON devotees all over the world promote the uplifting process of chanting the Holy Names of God as well as the understanding of universal brotherhood and sisterhood of all people and living beings as children of that One God.

On Saturday, March 5th, and Sunday, March 6th ISKCON devotees will plan to have events such as:

Public singing and chanting of the Holy Names in city squares, streets, parks, and other public areas
Chanting at temples, homes, and other indoor venues
Group Prayers, chants, and meditation sessions in person or online via various social media and video conference platforms

In addition to chanting and praying, ISKCON is also well-known for free distribution of sanctified vegetarian food and over the duration of the recent pandemic has distributed hundreds of millions of meals globally.

ISKCON, founded in 1965 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, belongs to the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sampradaya, or denomination, a monotheistic tradition within the broad Hindu culture. It is scripturally based on the 5,000-year-old Sanskrit text Bhagavad-gita, or “Song of God.” ISKCON traces its lineage directly to the speaker of that sacred book, Lord Krishna, who is revered as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and to Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a 16th-century incarnation of God who emphasized the chanting of Hare Krishna as the most effective means of achieving self-realization and love of God in this age.
