The year 2021 marks the 125th anniversary of the appearance of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). ISKCON Punjabi Bagh (Delhi, India) has planned year-long celebrations to mark the momentous event.
Starting June 2021, all members of the congregation are being encouraged to keep a copy of ‘Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita’ in their homes. Furthermore, each member would try to distribute at least 5 copies of the abridged version of ‘Srila Prabhupada Lila Amrita’. The members would also aim to read Srila Prabhupada books for at least 7 hours a week.
Furthermore, one of the primary philosophies propagated by His Divine Grace is the chanting of the Holy Name of Lord Krishna, especially the Mahamantra – “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare; Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare”. Therefore, the congregation at ISKCON Punjabi Bagh has vowed to offer 125 Crores (1.25 Billion) Holy names on his 125th anniversary. Every devotee will complete their daily vow of chanting 25,000+ Holy Names or 16 rounds of Japa and then do extra rounds to offer to Srila Prabhupada on His 125th anniversary. Each devotee, since June 2021, is offering more than 2 rounds extra every day, which is likely to continue till the latter half of 2022.
ISKCON Punjabi Bagh encourages more devotees to join this offering of Holy Names.
