MANGALORE: The pandal is set in Football Pavilion near Nehru Maidan and a set of officers from Indian Air Force (IAF) descended on Wednesday to ensure that country’s first massive Airmen recruitment rally in 2007 works in a clockwork manner.
The rally planned at Town Hall and Football pavilion on January 12, 14 and 16 is expected to attract over 10,000 participants. Arrangements have been completed to accommodate over 3,000 youths in University college, Kadri temple and Scouts Bhavan, Mangalore Assistant Commissioner S Krishnamurthy said.
The candidates will be first screened through a written test of duration 35 minutes from 5 am. Those appearing for Technical Trades (group X) will be tested for knowledge in English, Physics and Mathematics. While those opting for non-technical trades (group Y) will face English and reasoning Maths test.
While the successful candidates will be put through a grueling fitness and medical test. Krishnamurthy told Express that NSS volunteers deployed at KSRTC bus stand, Mangalore Railway station will guide participants to their accommodation and to the venue of recruitment rally. Temporary toilets have been erected and ISKCON has been entrusted with the responsibility of disbursing subsidised lunch and dinner to participants.
Squadron Leader K K Bhaduri of IAF Commanding Officer of 7 Airmen selection centre said there was no capped limit on the recruitment process.
Over 266 youths among 6,179 participants were selected in Airmen rally held in Koppal in 2006, Bhaduri informed. The next massive Airman rally is being planned in Belgaum in June, the IAF officer informed.
