Devotees worldwide have sent their heartfelt prayers to His Holiness Sivarama Swami Maharaja, who was recently hospitalized in Budapest on Sunday, June 25th. He has faced several health challenges over the last few months, most especially chronic spinal issues, making walking difficult. He successfully underwent minimally invasive surgery on Monday. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, he continues to work on his writing projects.
Today, he hosted nine doctors and nurses for prasada in his hospital room. “It was quite a scene and extraordinary for them. They loved the prasāda, and Guru Mahārāja was enlivened by preaching to them…No matter where Guru Mahārāja is, he creates Vṛndāvana around himself, and people can feel it,” said a post in a Facebook group of disciples and well-wishers administered by Manjari Devi Dasi.
He was able to take two walks today that were physically tiring but pain-free. According to Sivarama Swami on his podcast, he is expected to be released on Thursday, June 29th, and return to special ground-floor accommodations near Bhaktivedanta College that don’t have a lot of stairs. He is looking forward to being close to Dayāl Nitāi Vijaya Gaurāṅga.
