On 17th January, Prabhupada Prana Das, Temple President of the ISKCON Karuna Bhavan temple in Lesmahagow, Scotland, met with Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf along with other representatives of the Scottish Hindu Foundation (SHF).

According to its website, the SHF “is dedicated to preserving and promoting the vibrant tapestry of Hindu culture in Scotland…[bridging] the gap between the Hindu community and the wider Scottish society, fostering understanding and cultural exchange.”

The meeting took place in Atlantic Quay, Glasgow, at a government building. Prabhupada Prana Das noted the meeting topics included an introduction to SHF’s member organizations (including ISKCON Scotland, which is an executive member), the rise of Hindu hate crimes, and the possibility of a Hindu chaplaincy position in Scotland.

Prabhupada Prana Das came to Krishna Consciousness in 1983, serving on the Sankirtan team for 24 years and as Temple President for the last sixteen years. “We have a very good relationship with all the Hindu temples in Scotland,” said Prabhupada Prana, “They are always keen to co-host our Gita Jayanti and have greatly assisted us with our Ratha Yatra by providing kitchen facilities, volunteers, and bhoga.”

At the same event, FM Yousaf was garlanded with the Deities’ Maha garlands and was pleased to receive Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad Gita As It Is.
