On February 11, 2024, devotees gathered at ISKCON Juhu, Mumbai to perform the abhiseka of stone imprints of the lotus feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which will be installed at Nasika, Kolapura, and Mumbai where Lord Chaitanya visited.
“It was the desire of Srila Bhakisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada to install 108 lotus footprints of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu at the places where Lord Chaitanya visited to create awareness of His presence in that place. He installed eight such lotus footprints and he left the remaining hundred for us,” said organizers. At each place, accompanied by a small party, Srila Sarasvati Thakura installed a stone imprint representing Mahaprabhu’s lotus feet by washing it with Ganga water, performing arati, reading from the relevant section of Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, and performing sankirtana. He also gave the priests and temple managers funds for the construction of a simple shrine for the footprints.
In order to fulfill the desire of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, Jayapataka Swami has recently installed the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya in various places in South and East India, and is now preparing to have them installed in Northern and Western parts of India as well.
Jayapataka Swami was joined at this event by Gopala Krishna Goswami, Giriraja Swami, Radhanatha Swami, Ambarisa Dasa and Svaha Devi Dasi. Jayapataka Swami felt grateful for the presence of all the senior devotees and the many other devotees assembled. “There were many devotees who participated in the ceremony enthusiastically and I am grateful to all the devotees who were present,” said Jayaptaka Swami.
