This month sees the BBT release a unique publication — Bhagavad-gita As It Is in Braille. A complete Spanish edition has been printed by devotees in Argentina, while Croatian devotee Dvaraka-gamana Dasi has produced a two volume edition in her native language. Initial copies number only one hundred for each volume, but a larger print run can be expected according to demand.

“It’s quite exciting to make the Bhagavad-gita accessible to blind people,” says North European BBT Director Brahma Muhurta Dasa. “Of course, Braille is really only a necessity nowadays for people with neither eyesight nor hearing. Everyone else can listen to audio books, and that’s why we’re busy right now creating audio books in the most important languages.”

While the Spanish and Croatian Bhagavad-gitas are the first Braille BBT books available, the Mediterranean BBT’s website also allows blind readers to download their Italian titles in a special format that’s readable through a connected Braille terminal.
