On September 1^st, 2018, the Executive Committee of ISKCON’s Governing Commission has issued the following statement: 

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In recent years, there has been much concern about the psychological and physical condition of HH Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Swami, an ISKCON guru and sannyasi. Despite repeated spiritual counseling, psychiatric treatment, and many efforts at intervention, it has become clear that BV Madhava Swami’s mental state no longer allows him to function in a leadership position.

It is our duty to advise you that BV Madhava Swami’s psychological condition is declining rapidly, and therefore, he should not in any way be encouraged to travel, speak publicly, or give spiritual guidance.

We have made arrangements for Maharaja to receive the care and support he requires from devotees who are trained professionals and willing to provide him with a living situation that will include medical treatment and the opportunity to remain in the association of devotees, should he be willing to accept it.
