On February 16, 2024, ISKCON Mayapur joyously commemorated the auspicious appearance day of Sri Advaita Acarya. It is said that material nature has two features, namely, the material cause and the efficient cause. The efficient causal activities are caused by Mahā-Viṣṇu, and the material causal activities are caused by another form of Mahā-Viṣṇu, known as Advaita. That Advaita, the superintendent of the cosmic manifestation, has descended in the form of Advaita Ācārya to associate with Lord Caitanya.

The preparations for this festive occasion commenced several days prior, with devotees wholeheartedly engrossed in crafting exquisite outfits and adorning the altar with resplendent decorations, all designed to delight Sri Advaita Acharya. From the arrangement of white, purple, green, pink, and yellow flowers adorning the altar to the stunning, vibrant attire donned by the deities and the captivating paintings gracing the walls, every detail was attended to with devotion.

As in previous years, ISKCON Mayapur observed the appearance day of Advaita Acarya with grandeur, featuring a jubilant kirtan, an elaborate abhishek ceremony, reverential arati, and sumptuous bhoga offerings. The temple resounded with the fervor of enthusiastic devotees who were so happy after attending the festival.

The altar of Sri Advaita Acarya stood out with several types of garlands, including pearls, tulasi, and multi-colored flower garlands. The abhishek took place from 11 a.m. to noon, accompanied by the anointing of the deity with pancamirta, followed by the offering of flowers (puspanjali). Devotees eagerly gathered to receive the sanctified abhishek prasadam, carrying containers of various shapes and sizes to bring home the divine ambrosia bestowed by the Lord.

The festivities ended with a reverential arati, culminating in the distribution of the Lord’s Mahaprasadam, sanctified food imbued with divine grace. The 12-hour kirtan dedicated to Advaita Acarya reverberated through the late evening, serving as a poignant expression of devotion and gratitude to Sri Advaita Acarya.
