ISKCON Mayapur is happy to inform you that the Government of India, through its National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) program, has approved the construction of Prabhupada Bathing Ghat in Mayapur, for which they have sanctioned nearly Rs 15.5 crores (USD 2 million).
The project would be built by Engineering Projects India Limited, one of the construction arms of the Government of India. EPIL is an experienced company that has constructed over 600 projects in more than ten countries to date at a budget of $10 billion.
It took the devotees more than one year of concentrated efforts in Delhi and Mayapur, dealing with various complex statutory and legal requirements, to help us reach this stage.
Firstly, I would like to thank our Mayapur Co-Director Hridaya Chaitanya Prabhu who worked very hard for this and under whose guidance the project is being executed.
ISKCON Mayapur wishes to thank Yudhistir Govinda Prabhu for his efforts and regular meetings with the Federal Minister and other Government officials overseeing this program in persuading them to approve the project and move it forward.
I would like to express our gratitude to the Co-Directors HH Japayakata Maharaja and Subekshana Prabhu for approving the purchase of the additional plot of land which was needed for the ghat.
We are grateful to our Mayapur team of Sri Madhava Gauranga Prabhu, who helped initiate the project, Nandan Prabhu, a member of the Masterplan Department for coordinating with all the stakeholders, Jagadarthiha Prabhu for helping secure additional land, and Akshaya Ramachandra Prabhu who helped with the legal requirements.
We also thank Devakinandana Prabhu (MEB) for his support in trying to help us through Sajjan Jindal Ji.
The Prabhupada Ghat would have many features, including:
– 75 m or 240 feet bathing space
– Ramps for wheelchair
– Toilets and changing rooms for men and women
– Park with green landscaping, benches, and gazebos
– High-mast lighting
– Protective railing and chains inside the Ganga
– Office and Security Room
The ghat is the first of the Mayapur Master Projects, and it is being overseen by the Masterplan Department headed by Hridaya Chaitanya Prabhu.
Shortly, we will send out an invitation requesting your auspicious presence in the Bhumi Puja of Srila Prabhupada Ghat in Mayapur.
Thank you.
Your servant,
Braja Vilas Das
