Reconnection, a multi-award winning film by ISKCON filmmakers Maxim Varfolomeev (Shyam Gopal Das) and Olga Avramenko (Vijay Radhika Dasi) has premiered online on Tuesday, September 26th.
Reconnection is a coming of age story of a Western young man, Sean, who ends up in the sacred town of Vrindavan and goes through a transformative experience.
The filmmakers themselves had moved to Vrindavan from Siberia, Russia, about ten years ago, and they noticed: “people go to Vrindavan and their lives change. Different people from various backgrounds, the same conclusion every time – their lives changing for the better. Something special is going on there for sure.”
In their film, they wanted to capture this transformational experience.
“It is a film about two worlds – they contine. One is a world of living behind a polite smile, where glances only briefly meet when they look up from the phone screens for a short ‘what’s up?’. And then there is another world that only lets you in if you get out of your bubble, out of your sterile and sanitized life — to find reality, and eventually your true self.”
The film has won fifteen international awards.
