The Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education (VIHE) is pleased to announce its latest on-site Bhakti-vaibhava course covering Cantos One and Two, which will be held from June 26 to October 30, 2024. The full course facilitates the systematic study of the first six cantos of Srimad-Bhagavatam in the association of devotees under the guidance of senior teachers, with reference to Srila Prabhupada’s books and the works of previous acaryas. It aims to expand devotees’ devotional and missionary spirit.

“The course helps participants acquire a lasting taste for studying scriptures and encourages practical application,” said Rupanuga Bhakta Dasa, Promotional Manager, “It engages Brahminical propensities, enables one to sing Sanskrit verses properly, and offers insights into Srila Prabhupada’s expertise in giving everything required for advancement in Krsna consciousness in his books.”

The teachers for Cantos One and Two include Bhakti Vigyana Gosvami, Bhakti Dhira Damodara Svami, Yadunandana Svami, Sarvabhauma Dasa, Asita Dasa, Vamsi Vadana Dasa, Kalacakra Krsna Dasa, and Advaita Krsna Dasa. The course will be over two semesters, each approximately four months long, per year. Multiple semesters serve as an opportunity for support and ongoing “sharpening of the saw” and allow gradual assimilation of the teachings. Some facilities will be given to attend parts of the course online as well.

In addition to the verse-by-verse Bhagavatam study, complementary seminars accompany each canto. For example, we will explore areas like the Ten Topics, the Six Vedic Philosophies, and the Cosmology of the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Value classes churning topics like humility, sincerity, seriousness, determination, compassion, and fearlessness will be held twice a week. “One of the most important points that I personally realized was that the Srimad-Bhagavatam is non-different from Krishna,” said alumni student Pulastya Muni Dasa, “The Srimad-Bhagavatam course will challenge you and encourage you. Your taste for hearing and chanting will increase multifold.”

The entire Bhakti-vaibhava semester schedule will be as follows:

  • June 26 to October 30- Cantos 1 and 2
  • Dec 2024- April 2025 – Canto 3
  • Caturmasya 2025 – Canto 4
  • Winter & Spring 2026 – Canto 5
  • Caturmasya 2026 – Canto 6
