Last week the construction of the bas-relief dedicated to the first saint of ISKCON Jayananda Thakur has been completed. The artwork is situated near the samadhi of Jayananda, on wall of the Lord Jagannatha temple complex in Mayapur. Three sections of the bas-relief depict scenes from the life of Jayananda, glorifying his outstanding contribution to the development of the mission of Lord Caitanya, and his spiritual master Srila Prabhupada’s love and gratitude to him.
ISKCON Deity Worship Minister for North America Jayananda Das, a disciple of Bhakti-Tirtha Swami, has visited twenty-five temples in North America since 2012, and plans to visit sixteen more by the end of this year. This will bring him to about eighty per cent of the total 55 temples in North America.
“Jayananda’s death is glorious," Prabhupada wrote. "He has left his body very wonderfully, and he has been transferred to Vaikuntha… Everyone should follow the example of Jayananda. I am very proud that I had such a nice disciple."
