World Gita Day is a new initiative that aims to unite our communities worldwide and celebrate the knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita. In its second year in 2021, World Gita Day will be celebrated on December 18-19 with a global program featuring regions from Fiji to Thailand and Russia to North America, covering every continent and celebrating the impact of the Bhagavad Gita in those regions.
The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, the largest publisher of Bhagavad Gita wants to make World Gita Day a global feature allowing everyone to take time to discover and imbibe the universal teachings of the Gita. Our goal is to unite all Hare Krishna devotees around the world and inspire one another to spread the teachings of the Gita far and wide. We want to make the Gita famous. Every town and village. In every home.
We encourage devotees to share the social media posts about World Gita Day in their local groups and personal accounts. Let your friends know about this and let’s bring the collective consciousness of the world to imbibe the much-needed principles of the Gita. Your encouragement and advocacy matter in bringing World Gita Day and the sacred wisdom to even more people.

Let’s transform the world with the Gita!
The goal for this year’s Live to Give campaign, also known as the Prabhupada Marathon, is to distribute 2.2 million copies of Bhagavad Gita globally, from September 21st to January 7th.
The celebrations and fire sacrifice will be held in Kurukshetra, from the land of Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna had spoken it first on the 18th and 19th of December following the Gita Jayanti, now known as the World Gita Day on 14th of December.
The global team of devotees, sankirtan leaders, GBCs have come together with strategies to smash the goal and ‘leave no stone unturned, as Vaisesika Dasa calls it.
Vaisesika Dasa says that all of us can take part in the campaign since we are all part of Lord Caitanya’s sankirtan movement.
Different centers, individuals have pledged their goals and have already begun to flood the world with transcendental literature, following in the footsteps of the greatest giver, Srila Prabhupada.
Various leaders such as Gopal Krishna Goswami, Jayapataka Swami, and Giriraj Swami have been constantly encouraging devotees worldwide to distribute books. Vaisesika Dasa and his team are amazingly managing the campaign.
Now is the time to step out and change people’s lives by giving them a copy of Bhagavad Gita As It Is and thereby becoming dear to Krishna, as He Himself says in the Bhagavad Gita. “There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear.”-18.69
There’s nothing more pleasing to Srila Prabhupada. “I’m very pleased that you are taking my order to distribute books so seriously. All blessings of Krishna are on these girls who are working so hard to distribute my books. “- letter to Dharmatma, December 23, 1976.
