More than 300 visitors enjoyed the sunshine at the fourth annual Strawberry Fair open day at Aldenham’s Bhaktivedanta Manor last Saturday.
The manor, in Hilfield Lane, is the largest Hindu temple estate in the United Kingdom.
An array of food including strawberry filo, pancakes and strawberries and cream were sampled by guests throughout the garden party with the farm’s home-made strawberry ice cream proving a particular success. Guests were also treated to a free vegetarian lunch.
Activities on offer included prana-yama breathing workshops, yoga, head massage, bullock cart rides and even the opportunity to try on a sari.
Many visitors also enjoyed tours around the house conducted by senior priest Kripamoya Dasa.
The warm weather allowed visitors to relax, wander the grounds and enjoy the gardens.
Radha Mohan, spokesman for the Hare Krishna Temple said: “The event was blessed with the most beautiful summer sunshine.”
Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood, Farida Turner said the gardens were “magnificent” and the hosts at the Manor were “extremely hospitable and delightful”.
