ISKCON Opens Charity Shop in London

On the 31st May 2013, singer and song writer Pete Doherty (The Libertines) visited Matchless Gifts, to cut the ribbon and officially open ISKCON’s first Charity Shop in London. The shop sells clothes, gifts and other items that people don’t want anymore and donate to the shop.

The profit is only used for charity purposes, pays the temple bills and supports “Food for Life” free vegetarian meal distribution in the area.

The shop, which is managed by Jenny Mathias (singer from the girl rock band of the Bellestars), has already created a good reputation in the neighborhood.

Pete Doherty has decided to support the prasad distribution project by offering financial support through a benefit concert this September at the Brixton Academy.
