On August 7th an 8th, 2010, almost 60 devotees gathered in Sydney, Australia to attend a Vedic Leadership seminar presented by Bhakti-Vidya Purna Swami. The seminar was held over two days with profits donated to the Mayapur Gurukula, to fund scholarships and other requirements.
The event was organised by Vara-Nayaka Das, Temple President at Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha, in Sydney. At the end everyone received a certificate of attendance.
The seminar was based on material used by Bhakti-Vidya Purna Swami in the Vedic Leadership and Management seminar arranged by Bhaktivedanta College at ISKCON Finland. The full course is worth two university credits.
At the Sydney seminar the main topics included an understanding of the role of a leader in Vedic society. This was compared with the role of the manager, the qualities required of a leader, the philosophical basis of administration based on catur-slokas of Srimad Bhagavatam, as well as the letters of Srila Prabhupada on the leadership of the GBC.
The seminar was presented to assist the participants to gain an understanding of the spiritual principles of Vedic Leadership and to inspire them to study and learn more. During the presentation Bhakti-Vidya Purna Swami made detailed reference to the Vastu Traya or the three elements of substance, as a framework for gaining the correct perspective on the leadership field and the elements within it.
Wonderful music made by the kirtaniyas, led by Sri Prahlad, helped increase the devotional mood of the event and lifted everyone’s spirit. Bhakti-Vidya Purna Swami encouraged everyone to ask questions throughout the seminar. He also gave personal answers and association during breaks.
The participants were very inspired by the Vedic Leadership Seminar and hope to start applying the principles in their roles as leaders in the community, at the temple, in the home and at work.
An audio record of the entire event was made. It will be available soon for further study.
