ISKCON’s Food For Life program in Portugal is celebrating fourteen years of dedication to helping the needful this March 19. In 2007, the local government awarded the organization a Silver Medal recognizing its service, and today its efforts show no signs of slowing down.

“We now have a wonderful website at www.ffl-pt.com full of information about the project, along with content about vegetarianism, veganism, health care, enviroment care, recipes, and more,” says servant director Govinda Sundar Dasa. “It’s already drawing attention, and recently resulted in an invitation to participate in one of Portugal’s most popular health fairs, which attracts over 5,000 visitors.”

Food For Life Portugal is expanding its goals this year – as well as feeding the homeless, it will be organizing street activities and programs at universities and schools to help young people develop a taste for a healthier vegetarian diet and pay more attention to the environment.

The project has also recently assumed a partnership with the Food For Life program in the sacred town of Vrindavan, India and look forward to supporting its efforts.
